Standing on a dais, Teide felt the overwhelming presence of the Gods. Before him on a bench, much like that of a courtroom, sat the seven Gods. In the center Carpe Diem with the Goddesses Rhosyn to his right and Callisto on the left and the other Gods and Goddesses arrayed to the right or left of them.
Fear gripped Teide’s heart. He had stood before a God before, but not all of them at once. "This can not be good", Teide thought to himself. "Have I died for good? I can’t have, at least I don’t remember dying. But would I remember if I did? I must be dead and I am to be judged for my deeds by the Gods. Yes that must be it. Then there is nothing to fear for I have lived a good life doing my duty for the Empire."
"Teide", boomed Capre Diem. "You have been brought before us because we have decided that the peoples of the land shall be rewarded for your efforts."
Teide stared in confusion at the Gods. "Rewarded for my efforts?", he thought to himself.
Callisto’s voice rang throughout the chamber, "The people of the lands have been praying and sacrificing to us, asking for our aid in their despair. The taxes in the land are such that they can barely afford to live."
"Thus", Rhosyn’s musical voice sang, "we have decided that the prayers of the people shall be answered. Since you, Helladius, Pandora and Paladeis are the ones responsible for this suffering we have decided that from this day on when a free person of the lands slays one of you they shall receive a treasure. If they obtain several of these treasures they can sacrifice them to us and shall be rewarded with a gift." At this a glow surrounded Teide and he felt a change within him.
Awaking with a start, Teide felt the sweat that drenched his bed. The room was dark and a chill had crept into the room. Getting up, he went and stoked the fire. After a minute he started to feel the warmth of fire beat back the chill of the night. Slowly his dream came back to him and with that an awareness that something was different. He couldn’t tell what was different but something had changed within him.
